Rebel Young Republican - Tales of the North American Proletariat (1996)

Rebel Young Republican

A commenter has saved us a bit of trouble in tracing this band's lineage. Guitarist Darren Preston previously played in Non Prophet, and then went on to Porter Hall - replacing Jeff Caissie when he moved south (if the Gauntlet is to be believed).

Unfortunately, that's all we can do right now.

Get RYR here.

Yep, Jeff Lee & Dave from AKA plus Brock who went on to be in The Browns.

Rebel Young Republican was Jeff Lee on guitar/vocals (formerly of AKA, after this was a member of Black Rice and Blood Meridian), Dave Patterson on drums (also of AKA, later joined bands like The Spitfires and Limblifter), Brock McAndless on bass (later of The Browns and Field Day) and Darren Preston on guitar (later of Porter Hall).

This band ruled.

I have a cassette from "John American Car". I think it's related as well. "John American Car" played the Winnipeg Hardcore festival on summer in the 90's. We went with Chapter 16 too.

Related in that it was Jeff and Dave.

RULED!!!
Back in the parents basement I've got this rare recording of Rebel Young (they cover Iron Maiden!) & Jon American Car (but it would have been Ellen Jameson Society - a period when Dave was being schizophrenic with changing the name)... anyways, it was suppose to have been released as a split 12" but then Dave moved to Van... Jeff followed shortly aft and now lives in NYC with his wife - both of whom play(ed) in HARD DRUGS - a rock opera!
*Shit, I gotta make a trip to Calgary to contribute...

recorded by simon head (soundman for snfu and others) in the basement of our house in downtown calgary over one afternoon. we bought some pre-recorded cassetes and taped over them on a deck to deck stereo off a master copy. all tapes were hand labeled with white out and pen, and were sold for about a dollar fifty each at shows. thanks to whoever submitted this.

- brock.
