I remember attending a Feast of Fools gig at the original 'Republik' which was on 9th Avenue S.W. back in 1986. It was on a Thursday night which was 'triple highball' night and the crowd was huge. A friend videotaped the entire evening and it was one of the funniest tapes I have ever seen as he went around the venue and interviewed all of the drunk patrons. One guy kept comparing the Fools to Pink Floyd which of course was ludicrous.

Shortly after this cover photo was taken a train came by barely missing Burns and almost severed off his most treasured body part. Jeff you know which part I'm talking about.

LOL, that was me. That night, I walked right in with a sony hand held camera and a microphone and started "interviewing" all the drunk people that were around. Buke Lactivose was there as well. Triple hi-balls was why it was so crowded. You could barely move in there.

I interviewed "Oliver" the owner of the place which was before he sold it to another guy named Victor about a year or two later and then the Republic moved to 17th Ave and 1st street. There used to be some weird restaurant below there until they whole building got shut down for some reason.

Something tells me, you couldn't do that today. As I write this message I'm 59 years old. Oh-gawd that was a long time ago.

I wonder if that video tape is still in existence . I think the building the Republik was in on 17th and first was a restaurant called 'Myrts'

Hey Buke,

Interesting you should remember that.

It was called Myrts and it was a "gay" bar.

It later transformed into the new location of The Republic after they vacated the original one that Oliver was running across from Gulf Canada sq on 9th Ave. The new owner was "Victor" of the republic during that time.
Great times.
